An Alabama business community is elevating one of its members to oversee economic development.
The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce has promoted David Rodgers to vice president of economic development. The position had been vacated by Troy Wayman in pursuit of an opportunity with One Acadiana in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Rodgers is tasked with directing the Mobile Area Chamber’s efforts in new business development, business retention and expansion, international trade and workforce development. He will also oversee Partners for Growth, the Chamber’s economic development program.
“Our [PFG] investors helped shape the Chamber’s economic development program of work, and have invested in it,” said board chairman Brian Willman with Regions Bank. “David is the right person to help us exceed our aggressive PFG goals.”
Rodgers started at the Chamber as a project manager in the economic development department in January 2015. He was promoted to senior project manager a year and a half later.
“David brings to the table a clear understanding of the Mobile market, our Team Mobile partners and a strong working relationship with the Alabama Department of Commerce and site selectors from across the country,” said Bill Sisson, Chamber president and chief executive officer. “He also has a strategy in place to help take the Chamber’s economic development department to the next level.”
